ENGINEER
YOUR FUTURE.

Make it easyJet.

JET-POWERED PROGRESS WITH AN APPRENTICESHIP

With over 300 aircraft in our fleet and 90 million passengers a year, our engineering team is essential to keep everything running smoothly, so we’re always on the lookout for new talent to join us. That new talent might even be closer than we think, so our Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeships are open to existing employees too. If you’re ready to learn new skills and take the next step in your career, we’re here to help you.

Every year, we recruit apprentices to become Licensed (Cat A) Aeronautical Engineers – and you could be just what we’re looking for. In two years, you’ll gain the skills you need to be a licensed mechanic. You’ll learn and earn, so by the end you’re ready to be a full-time member of our team.

If you’re already part of the easyJet team in England and interested in the scheme, just search ‘Apprenticeships’ on our People Development Hub.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Our Aeronautical Engineering Apprenticeship is a fully funded programme that begins with specialist training, and then switches to practical experience. You’ll learn how to diagnose and solve a wide range of technical problems with the guidance and support of experienced colleagues (many who started as apprentices themselves). We’ll soon have you up to speed on the latest tools and technologies – so you’re equipped with the practical skills you need to maintain our modern fleet.

From day one, you’ll also earn a real salary and great benefits. Sound almost too good to be true? That’s how much we value our engineering talent.

HOW IT WORKS

There are two phases to the programme. In the first 9 months, you’ll complete a CAT A1 training course at our Luton training academy (with exams every month). During this time we’ll pay for your breakfast and dinner and support you with your accommodation. Once this step is done, you’ll be off to Kemble for practical training.

In the second phase, between months 10 and 15, you’ll continue your learning by working full-time night shifts at Luton or Gatwick. This is where you’ll build the practical knowledge for your UKCAA and EASA Part-66 Category A1 modules – that will complete your apprenticeship and you’ll become a licensed mechanic (with the possibility in the future to progress to licensed engineer). Once you’ve qualified, you could be based in Luton, Gatwick, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh or Glasgow. It’s a nationally recognised qualification so the sky really is the limit for your future career in engineering.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

We want you to show us a passion for aviation and a real interest in an engineering career. It’s useful if you’ve worked with mechanical or electrical equipment before, but it’s more important that you’re a practical thinker who is good with your hands, so you have the mindset and dexterity to become a top engineer.

As our workshops are fast-paced environments with a big focus on teamwork, you’ll need good interpersonal skills and the dedication to work at a high pace. A valid passport is a must as well, as you may need to travel to other locations in our European network. Lastly, the security regulations of working airside mean you’ll need to pass a CRB check.
